Introducing the Ice Ring: A 24/7 Health Tracking Device for Your Finger

by

In a world where smartwatches and fitness trackers have become the norm for monitoring health metrics on the go, Omate, a renowned wearable outfit, has decided to take a different approach. The company has launched the Ice Ring in Europe, offering users a simpler option for tracking their health.

Although Omate is primarily known for its smartwatches, it did collaborate with French fashion brand Emanuel Ungaro in 2015 to create a high-fashion smart ring. This ring served as a limited notification alert wearable that vibrated when a saved contact called a paired phone. Building upon this experience, Omate has now introduced the Ice Ring, a fashionable accessory that doubles as a health monitor.

Available through jewelry shops in Europe, including France’s Louis Pion, the Ice Ring uses state-of-the-art sensors to track various health metrics. It can monitor heart rate, blood oxygen levels, stress levels, and activity levels. By connecting to a companion mobile app via Bluetooth 5.1, the ring can remind users to stay active or seek advice for abnormal heart rates. It also supports different sports modes and can provide route tracking using Google Maps and GPS from a paired smartphone. Furthermore, the Ice Ring features sleep monitoring capabilities, providing insights into various sleep stages and an overall sleep score through an embedded algorithm.

Laurent Le Pen, the founder and CEO of Omate, believes that the Ice Ring’s ability to translate data into practical insights, especially for sleep monitoring, is its core advantage. Le Pen explains, “I am proud to say Omate was part of the first wave of smartwatches 10 years ago, but I am also part of the people who dislike sleeping with a watch. The Ice Ring is a game changer for people who want to accurately monitor their sleep.”

The Ice Ring’s outer shell is made from titanium alloy, ensuring durability, and it is rated water-resistant to IP68 standards. Despite its impressive features, it weighs just 2.9 grams (0.1 oz). The electronics are powered by a 20-mAh LiPo battery, providing up to six days of normal use. Additionally, the ring can be fully charged in just 30 minutes using the magnetic USB charging cable.

Produced in partnership with Paris-based wearable brand Ice Watch, the Ice Ring is available in silver, gold, or black for €199. For those in the United States, the Ice Ring is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2024 for $199, making it significantly more affordable than the similar Horizon ring from Oura.

With its stylish design and advanced health monitoring capabilities, the Ice Ring offers a convenient and fashionable solution for individuals looking to keep track of their well-being throughout the day and night.
